Red River War Sites

In 1874 and 1875, the Red River Indian Wars were fought between the U.S. Army and tribes of the Southern Plains. As a result of this war, the Indians lost their homelands and were forced to move to Oklahoma reservations and the Southern Plains were opened to ranching, farming, and settlement.

There are many Red River War battle sites in Gray County and we have developed a brochure and driving tour that highlights many of these sights.

You can pick up a brochure and map at the Pampa Chamber of Commerce at 200 N. Ballard.
